There has been a lot of talk recently regarding “Going Green”, in and around your house and seeking to save the environment. For decades certain things that we used often had a terrible effect on the environment and have resulted in harm. One such major problem that exists is the massive amount of electric that we use nowadays. While more and more items than ever in a house require electricity, the majority of manufacturers are starting to make products that don't use as much electric as older equivelents. Large goods such as Refrigerators, Ovens, Dishwashers, Washers and Tumble Driers have been designed to save energy as compared to older models. With most of these products we tend to keep them for until they break, but is it costing more money to keep hold of these old goods? By replacing them with new energy efficient goods you will save money on your electric bill and also help protect the environment at the same time.
Other things in your home like your windows, doors, insulation, furnace and water heater can all play a large part in making your house more energy efficient. If you feel a draught around the windows and doors, make sure you replace them with new windows and doors. This could usually have a substantial impact on the amount of money that you pay out during the winter months to heat your home. Your furnace, if it's old can also be costing you more than it should. Consider testing it out and changing it with a High-Efficiency furnace if you are able to afford it. Keeping your furnace in great working order and looking after it can also help to cut down on your costs.
Even going through your home and replacing all your light bulbs with energy saver light bulbs can help to reduce the amount of energy that is required to light your house.
